If you are reading this, you have come to the right
place. We at Broadleaf Architecture place a great deal of emphasis on helping our
clients (and potential clients) outline a plan of attack based upon their specific needs.
Whether the project is a small residence, or a larger commercial project, we can
assist you at any stage of the process.
How We work:
After an in-depth discussion about the scope and
driving forces behind the design of the project, it is time to start designing. A
huge difference between us and other designers & architects is our use of three
dimensional computer modeling software. Instead of being limited to working in two
dimensions, the software allows us to sculpt space in all three dimensions. This may
seem relatively straight forward, but to this day, many designers & architects still
rely on two dimensional drawings to show clients their design. Simply put, we do not
experience space in two dimensions. The computer model that we use to explore
different designs is the same model that we present to our clients to get feedback as to
what works for them and what doesn't. Being able to "walk-through" a
project before anything has been finalized is not only helpful in understanding how the
space would look and feel, but also helps to minimize any expensive changes down the road.
By working with the computer, it allows us to easily
create images, floor plans, as well as seamlessly integrate with other computer
software. This is extremely helpful during the design process, where changes are
constantly taking place, each affecting the final product. In order to ensure that
our design follows our client's requests, we create a personalized webpage where we post
images, Quick-Time videos, and PDF documents of the project for our clients to look
through. This allows our clients to review the design on their own, making changes
and providing additional input where needed. The webpage serves as a place where
clients can look at numerous design schemes at one time, pick and choose the elements that
appeal to them, and then provide us with precise feedback as to which elements of the
design worked for them and which ones did not.
Residential Projects:
There are many steps to the residential design
process, but one of the first steps is to evaluate your current living situation. An
Information Style Sheet is helpful in this
process. It asks you basic questions about how you and your family use your current
home. What do you like about your home? What doesn't work for you? What
rooms are never used? What rooms do you spend most of your time in? Is your
garage used for storing everything but your car? These are some of the important
questions that will help you and your designer understand your needs. We also have a
Resources page which has links to a variety of
products, consultants, and other helpful information regarding your project.
Commercial Projects:
The design of a commercial project depends greatly on
its end use. Is it going to be a community gathering space? A corporate office
building? A retail store? We have a great deal of experience in dealing with public
interests, whether it be the community at large or smaller planning committees. We
at Broadleaf Architecture have experience planning, participating in, and presenting our
designs in a public setting, whether that is to the general public or to a selected group
of individuals.
